This modern manufactured product offers considerable style and realism at an affordable price for many homeowners. Better yet, the installation process is a quick and much cleaner installation process than with wood boards. Vinyl plank floor installers can finish the project in a single day. This means less intrusion and disruption of the homeowner’s schedule.
Installing Vinyl Plank Flooring
Homeowners who remember the tired and worn vinyl flooring in their grandmother’s kitchen may not realize how far this option has come. While sheets and tiles have been a part of stylish homes for decades, vinyl plank flooring is now seeing its best years.
Combining modern materials with the ability to photo-realistically print the boards with any type of wood grain, vinyl plank installation becomes an easy choice. Tongue and groove connections on the sides make laying the floor a snap.

How to Install Vinyl Plank Flooring
The installation process begins similarly to all other floor replacements. The installation expert removes the baseboards carefully. Then thoroughly cleans the subfloor and to ensure it is perfectly level. Repairs or replacement may occur as necessary.
The vinyl plank flooring installation continues with these steps:
- Plan the pattern of planks and use a chalk line to mark the edges of the room and the center.
- The installation starts near one wall. The edge of the first plank goes under where the baseboard will cover it. Planks are cut to fit the edges of the room instead of having a short piece in the middle.
- The tongue of one plank is slipped inside the groove of one already placed on the floor and then snapped into place. Unless the vinyl plank floor installers are making a particular design, they should stagger the ends of the plank at least 6 inches.
- The installer repeats this process until the floor is covered. Edge pieces are cut and installed, and the baseboard is replaced neatly.
With the modern advances in vinyl plank flooring, its affordability, and the less disruptive installation process, it has become an increasingly popular option for any room in the house. Give us a call today for a Free Estimate on your Vinyl Plank Flooring project.
